Yo, sorry for the late newsletter but this has been a very busy month for me personally and others on the sKoolBoY staFF. By the way, my name is Leonard, I am the founder of sKoolBoY. I thought it would be appropriate to introduce myself now since we have been out for awhile and It is always better when you know who is running things. I'm sure some of you thought this site was run by robots or by ghosts??? Halloween just around the corner. Anyway, for this newsletter, there is not much to say since I have not had much time to add more International textbooks to the site or posts on the blog. I will be adding items as soon as I can, possible in the coming days. Right now, we are assessing the website and thinking about making changes which we have been making announcements about in the past. We are not going to make any concrete changes yet but we are hashing out ideas and trying to make the site better and expand our base. Yippy! Another sKoolBoY newsletter! Ok. We would like to thank all the people who have signed up on our site. It has been almost 6 months since the site was initially established. We have made changes to the site and blog in order to better communicate information to our users and prospective customers. We have recently added new categories that include International and Digital Textbooks. We have added textbooks to the International textbook category and will continue to do so. Make sure that when you bid on an item, that if it says reserve price, that means that the item will only sell if it hits a specific price. If you are unsure what that price is, send a message to the seller. If you "Buy It Now" then you will be able to buy the item right away because that price is always above the reserve price.

We decided to add these textbooks as an alternative to just normal textbooks sold on this site. These two categories should be checked out for great deals on textbooks. You will pay much less for the International textbooks which are similar to the U.S version except for some additional material and black and white text. We have some great news! The website will not be going offline!!! So you can

try and do all the maintenance late at night so it will not impact buyers and
sellers.

How is everyone's summer going? sKoolBoY is continuing to grow and we continue to evolve as well. Over the past couple of weeks, we have added some new categories such as Solutions Manuals, Dorm Posters, and reintroduced DVDs to the site. We have also created a special category called Bid on a Private Tutor. If you are going to use the category 'Bid on a Private Tutor,' then you should scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link that says 'how to bid on a Private Tutor.'

The sKoolBoY blog is updated daily with new information from the site and other random stories found on the internet. Don't forget to check that out. Very Funny Stuff.

We are proud to announce that the sKoolBoY group page on Facebook has reached 165 members and continues to grow everyday. The sKoolBoY profile page is doing just as good at 866 members and growing everyday. We hope to reach as many people on Facebook as possible since they are our base.

On a side note, we have started a charitable initiative to donate 15% of all site earnings to organizations that deal with juvenile delinquency, drug abuse among teens, and orphaned teens. This is an ambitious initiative but we look to tackle it because kids are the future. We hope by improving their circumstances we will better able them to facilitate a brighter future for others. We will donate 15% of all site earnings if the number of users on the site reaches ten thousand members or the Facebook group page reaches one million members. Please help tell others about this initiative by inviting others to our Facebook group page or by telling others to sign up on our site.

We are still hiring interns for the summer and into upcoming Fall/Spring Semesters. If you would like to become an intern, please email us at jobopp@skoolboy.com.

We know you do not want to hear this but (whisper) school is right around the corner. Ahhh!!! We know that is a nightmare for some and beautiful music to some people's ears. Either way, we just want to remind you to check the site for your textbooks or sell your textbooks and other stuff to students who will be visiting the site before school starts.

Yes, we added yet another category. Remember, you can always suggest a category for the site. Just click on suggest category which is found on the left side of the screen in your members area. The new category is AP Tests. If you are a high school student or have siblings who are taking these tests now you and them have a great way of buying or selling these books here at great prices. We sell these book for about $11 when the actual retail price will be around $19. Save time and money and check out the category today.

This category is interesting and should be a new way for tutors to find prospective students to tutor and have a better way to advertise to millions of college students at one time.

If you are planning on using this category, please read the following carefully: This is how you should setup this auction.

First, make sure to set the auction starting bid as the hourly rate that you charge. Then, make sure you set a reserve price that matches the minimum amount of money that a student has to pay. For example, your hourly rate is $4/hr and you require a minimum of 6 hours of tutoring. Then, you would set a reserve bid of $24 because this is the minimum that a student would have to pay for. Also, if you do not have a minimum then you would not have to set a reserve price since it would match your starting bid. Next, make sure to set up an offer range. This is where the student will bid on what amount of hours they are seeking for tutoring. For example, you should set the offers starting at the minimum amount that has to be paid and then to the maximum that has to be paid based on the number of hours of tutoring that you offer. You could offer a minimum of 2 hours up to a maximum of 15 hours. Thus, you would need to set the offer range from $8 to $60 based on your hourly rate of $4/hr.

There are many ways you can do this, but some ways are better than others. I will breakdown the many different ways that students tend to sell or buy their textbooks.

1. College/University Bookstore

Some students opt to sell their textbooks back to the bookstore because they can get possibly fifty percent back for their book. This is not always true. Depending on the demand for that particular book, the bookstore may only give you back a small percentage of the total cost. At the same time, they will probably resell your book at the original purchase price or higher and you will be left with pocket change. This is not a smart way to buy/sell your textbooks. You are limiting yourself and being swindled and ripped by the bookstore.

2. Friends

Of Course, your Friend is important and you would do anything to help him/her out. But, guess what? Your friend probably wants your book for nothing or would pay very little for it. Depending on your financial situation, you may do this with little thought or are the type of person who is very giving. If you are the latter, then good for you. But, if you are the former, then you could use some extra money because college students need to eat, buy clothes, go out, etc. Therefore, you should probably reserve this option only if you are generous and want to help your friend or are financially secure and already get plenty of money from your parents.

3. Keep Them at Home to Collect Dust

Now, this is not very smart. First of all, your friend could have used that book or at least you could have sold it when it was in high demand and made a nice return on your initial investment. Unfortunately, by allowing the book to collect dust, it loses value and people don't want raggedy books or books that look aged. Even though it would be classified as used, some people may not want it. YOU SHOULD NEVER DO THIS.

4. Sell Online

This is the intelligent option. Because selling it online gives you the ability to participate in a large marketplace and gives your book a bigger audience. Think about it, when you go to the bookstore, they tell you what they think the book is worth. Your friend wants it for free, most likely. You sell it online and you allow a possibility of millions of students around the globe to view your textbook. Your $120 textbook can now sell for possible $85 or more depending on its condition. This is a 70% return on your initial investment in the textbook. The bookstore was offering 50% depending on demand for book and your friend was looking for flea market prices. Some of the online websites that allow students to sell their textbooks and other stuff include:

2. Amazon
3. Half.com
4. Textbooks.com (This type of website and many others do exactly what the bookstore does by offering to pay for the book, which is not something you want.)

Remember, you don't want others do dictate the price of your book or decide whether it is worth this or that. We live in a free market and your book might be worth more or less to someone else. So why not give yourself the opportunity to test the market and get a very good return on your initial investment on the textbook.

Let me tell you right now...If you are not willing to put in the work. You should stop reading this right now. Take some time to think about it. Ok, if you are ready to move forward. Let me start by saying that you should avoid dropshippers or at least do not depend on them to a great extent. Most dropshippers you will find on the web are just middlemen who are selling items from actual dropshippers and charging you a higher price despite the talk of wholesale prices and such. There is a better way. You should just sell products on your site that belong to other sites and when the item is purchased, you just buy it from that site and ship it through that site with the buyer's money. Hopefully, you make a profit. Remember: You don't want to be using your own money to pay for stuff. If you are one of those stubborn people, who wants to use dropshippers, then I have a solution for you to. It may not seem like much but this will save you a lot of headache and time. Anytime you are looking for a dropshipper, make sure you check out how much they are charging either to dropship the item or the shipping charges. You might find an item on a site that has an attractive price that is low enough for you to sell it for a profit but then you go to ship it and realize the dropshipper is charging something outrageous like $10 or $15 to ship an item such as a pendant or controller for Nintendo Wii.

If you are looking to sell electronics, go to a site called newegg.com.

Another similar site is deepdiscounts.com, which also sells cds, dvds, posters, and more.

Dropshipping websites to avoid include Megagoods.com, Dobba.com, Shopster, and the many others that appear when you search for dropshippers on the first page of Google search results.

There are many other website out there to choose from and you might think some of the ones I have suggested are not as good as others you have found but it is difficult to find good ones. Trust me, It took me years to find the two websites that I just mentioned because I was stuck trying to find a good dropshipper which is almost impossible to find.

If you already have items to sell, then I recommend making the title interesting by pointing out things such as "FREE SHIPPING" "BRAND NEW" "NEVER OPENED" etc. Make sure you are constantly updating your site with new items and elaborating on item descriptions so that Web Crawlers from sites like Google, Yahoo, or MSN pick up your site and improve your search engine listings organically. Make sure to offer prospective customers incentives to sign up and buy items from your site. To increase traffic to your site without spending money, make sure you type the meta keywords for the site that perfectly match the content of the site. Also, make sure to place links for your site on other sites so that Google and other search engines can easily find your site and improve your search engine listings. The site has added "Special Presidential Auctions" to the site in the spirit of the upcoming general election. The site also added a sub category under 'Textbooks' called "Solutions Manual" for those people who are in need of answers to various textbooks.

Hello New and Current Members, this will be the first of many newsletters published by Skoolboy. We hope to publish at least one every month and two if something special is coming up. The Site has been up and running since Feb but really was not ready until March, so we have been official since really March. It has been 2 months and we have been racking up members young and old. In actuality, most of the members that have been joining our site have been women. SkoolBoy is all about Female Power, but of course, we welcome all genders. Anyway, if you did not know already, we have a promotion until June 12th, 2008 that allows members to avoid paying auction setup fees for features such as homepage, auction featured, etc. Don't Forget to take full advantage of this PROMOTION.

If you come to this site and you say, ah man, I bet Stacy or Brian would like this. You can now get rewarded for referring Stacy and Brian. On SkoolBoy, you can make offers to sellers and buy the item, right away! It is like the buy it now option but different because there is an offer range. Based on that range, the seller will accept a certain amount. If this amount falls withing the range, you can buy the item immediately. Using the make an offer, you don't have to settle for a buy it now price that is out of reach and instead choose a price within a range that is hopefully reasonably priced.

When Bidding on Auctions, the bid that is displayed is the actual amount that bidder has entered. Unlike other auctions sites, where the amount displayed is not an accurate representation of a bidder's bid. Tongue Twister. The bid displayed on our site is the actual bid, so now you know what they bid! and you can outbid them. Bidding WARS!!!

Yes! 2 month auctions. That is the longest time you can list your item on this site. But, I can't wait for item to end in two months, i need it now! No need to worry. When you bid on these auctions, the auction automatically resets to 7 days. If you need the item now, then you can always make an offer with the seller to buy it now or end the auction.

How? Well, all you have to do is tell us which books or stuffs you want to sell and we will simply place it on the site for you and sell it. How do I get the Money from the Sale? You can add videos to your auctions. But the videos can be no less than 10 MB. Even better, you can create your own videos and post it to the auction. If you want a good place to get videos off the internet check out www.pimple.tv, the video format must be avi,mpeg, or mov. Windows media videos work well with this site.

It's that time again. We at SkoolBoy present our list of banned users for the month of January. ah-hum (clearing throat). Viewers discretion is advised. The username is listed with reason for the banning or ostracizing from this site.

1. arthur354- spamming our email system
2. pokerface- pornographic profile picture; was warned repeatedly
3. mommasboy- tried to sell his soul; oh no he didn't
4. fratmouth- one of the staff member's knows him and kicked him off for the heck of it
5. vipertoy- tried to sell xxx videos
6. asantifire- refused to pay his fees
7. zackefron23- tried to sell his kidney; ewww
8. alibabagirl- continued complaints from buyers who never received their item
9. gunit675- tried to sell marijuana; keep your ultraviolet plants at home
10. bob_the_undertaker- we don't know why he was suspended but his case is under review

Well, that's enough names for today. We'll be back at the beginning of next month for another edition of ........YOU_ GOT_ BANNED (applause)
